Investment triples rock armour capacity
Falmouth based marine contractors, Keynvor Morlift (KML) has invested in a new barge which will triple its cargo carrying capacity as part of its continued expansion.
The arrival of the flat top barge, Selina, comes as KML celebrates being recognised at the recent New Horizons Awards for its exceptional business growth and success in capitalising on new opportunities.
Working alongside the company’s other barge, Mormaen 15, Selina will enable KML to triple its company’s rock armour carrying capacity. The company has gained a strong reputation for an ability to supply, deliver and place rock armour to improve sea defences around the coast. Recent projects have included schemes at Hinkley Point and Hollicombe in Devon and Selina is currently being loaded with Cornish granite which will be exported from Falmouth to a contract in Hastings.
A few weeks ago, KML won The Business Growth Award at the inaugural New Horizons Awards. The awards have been introduced by Marine-i to shine a light on business talent and innovation within the marine technology sector in the region.
Marine-i’s judges were very impressed with the rapid growth that KML has achieved and the way in which it has embraced new initiatives such as securing Falmouth Wharves to create a base for KML and other marine businesses to grow as well as sourcing Cornish granite to fulfil rock armour contracts.
