KMM Appointed to Design Dunmore East Harbour
Consulting engineers Kirk McClure Morton have been appointed by the Department of Communications, Marine & Natural Resources in Ireland for the provision of engineering services related to the design of an extension to Dunmore East Fishery Harbour in County Waterford.
The contract was awarded after a lengthy Europe-wide tender and negotiation procedure. The value of the remediation contract is over 10m. DEC and DI are subsidiaries of Belgian DEME-Group, one of the leading contractors world-wide in the fields of dredging, environmental and hydraulic engineering.
The harbour currently suffers from congestion, lack of navigable water depth, and experiences problems in certain storm conditions. KMM will use its expertise in harbour design, mathematical modeling and the environmental aspects of marine construction projects to determine the most suitable and economic harbour layout and form of construction.
