The UKs first offshore substation has been successfully installed at the Barrow Offshore Wind Farm in the Irish Sea. The substation transforms the power generated by the windfarm before it can be exported to the national grid and marks a crucial stage in the development of the 30 turbine facility, which is expected to provide power for some 65,000 homes.
