River Frontage Reclaimed on the Tyne

The Maureen platform is the largest platform in the world to have been decommissioned and removed after use so far. Parts of the sub-structure are now to be re-used in the new quay at Stord in western Norway, and, ultimately, the aim is to use anew or recycle as much as 95% of the platform.

The company has completed extensive temporary works to provide access across deep foreshore silts, and is responsible for installing a new tubular piled wall and armoured stone revetment which will form the new river bank at the site.

The project is due to be completed in June 2002.
