One Stop Shop for Props at seawork2004

First time seawork exhibitors BT Marine Propellers Ltd was founded in 1999 by Andy Tudge, formerly senior propeller technician manager at Teignbridge Propellers Ltd.

Based in Teignmouth, Devon UK, the company has rapidly gained a reputation for quality repairs with the quick turnarounds so crucial in the commercial sector as well as supplying new propellers.

In July 2003, Chris Bassett, sales manager at Teignbridge Propellers, joined BT Marine.

Rapid growth continued and late last year a Dutch based operation was formed. BT Marine Propellers BV is partly owned by co-director Leo Ritmeester. Earlier this year Tony Mawson, former engineering manager of New Age Propulsion Ltd, joined BT Marine.

With the recruitment of these personnel, BT Marine now has the engineering and manufacturing experience to design, produce and supply sterngear and propeller packages up to 300 mm shaft diameter and 3m propeller diameter. Propellers up to 30in diameter are held in stock at Teignmouth while those of up to 60in diameter are stocked in an offshore warehouse. Sterngear packages are designed in-house using AutoCAD, enabling BT to customise client requirements while ensuring the shipyard is in receipt of full working drawings prior to receiving delivery of the driveline package.

Thus far in 2004, BT has supplied sterngear and propeller packages to FBMA Babcock for a 47m ropax ferry being built in the Philippines, for two triple screw ferries in Indonesia, for a 35m fast ferry in Singapore, for newbuilds at IHC Delta shipyard in Holland, and for newbuilds by Macduff, Cygnus, McTay Marine and Evolution in the UK.

BT Marine will be showing their sterngear packages at seawork along with a range of propellers.

Two products new to the UK will be on display, BT’s own uniquely designed skewed nozzle propeller and a controllable pitch system from Korsor Propeller (Denmark), for whom BT Marine acts as European distributor.
