Outboard award

Suzuki’s DF25A and DF30A petrol outboard motors have received the 2014 IBEX Innovation Award for Outboard Motors, as announced at the International Boat Builders’ Exhibition & Conference (IBEX) in Florida. This is the eighth Innovation Award won by Suzuki, the Japanese company claiming this is more than any other outboard manufacturer.

IBEX Innovation Awards are given to new products in the marine industry that demonstrate distinctive technological advancements and deliver practical, cost-effective consumer benefits.

The DF25A and DF30A won the award – the eighth innovation award the company’s marine division has picked up to date – thanks to Suzuki’s ongoing effort to push the boundaries of what small horsepower outboards can deliver.

The winning outboards feature Suzuki’s battery-less electronic fuel injection system, which offers several important benefits, including reliable starting (especially in colder temperatures and at higher altitude), crisp acceleration and smooth running. The incorporation of electronic fuel injection also allows these engines to take full advantage of Suzuki’s Lean Burn Control System, which the company claims provides outstanding fuel economy without affecting engine performance.

Other key features include: an easy start recoil system for easier starts, roller rocker arms, an offset crankshaft and direct intake system for optimum operating efficiency, as well as a freshwater flush port for easy maintenance.

At just 62kg, these 25 and 30 horsepower outboards are the lightest in their respective classes – this, teamed with their power and reliability, means Suzuki’s DF25A/30A outboards find themselves setting the benchmark in technology and performance.

Masahiro Yamamoto, General Manager for Suzuki Marine European Liaison Office, said, “We are thrilled to win the 2014 IBEX Innovation Award for the DF25A and DF30A. We are always looking to enhance our range of outboard motors and the team has worked tirelessly to develop technical innovations such as the battery-less fuel injection system.”

The award-winning DF25A and DF30A outboards will be available in all the popular configurations, to cover a wide variety of boats and installations.
