Scania and Yanmar Agreement Clarification
Concern has been expressed that the article about Scania and Yanmars cooperation agreement on page 12 of the February 2003 Maritime Journal does not make clear that the agreement gives Yanmar the right to sell and market Scania marine engines to the pleasure boat market only. Scania will continue to sell and market engines for the commercial marine sector.
Featuring enhanced propulsion efficiencies, each Dolphin system is designed to deliver 7,000kW of power at 175rpm.
Lennart Hjelte, Senior Vice President responsible for Scania Industrial and Marine Engines, said, ‘The cooperation means that we can concentrate on the marketing of engines for marine commercial applications but still have a presence in the pleasure boat market.’
