Worlds first hybrid fast rescue craft
Dutch fast rescue craft designer and manufacturer Fast RSQ has designed what it claims to be the first aluminium Fast Rescue Craft (FRC) in the world with hybrid propulsion mode.

promises zero emission at low speed manoeuvring at sea or in harbours and the builder also guarantees noiseless drive. The zero emission electric drive mode allows a speed of approximately 6 knots using solely electric water jet propulsion and can be switched to the combustion engine with an easy turn of the ignition key. With the turbocharged six cylinder Steyr MO236K43 inboard diesel engine delivering 230hp, the

will reach speeds up to 34 knots.
The hull is strengthened by a system of longitudinal bulkheads and transversal stiffeners and on the outside of the hull there are four spray rails, two on each side of the keel. The FRSQ 700 Hybrid has seven water tight and pressure tested compartments. The void compartments are not filled with foam, a choice to make the boat more environmentally friendly and the hull fully recyclable. The keel is longer in the direction of the bow which gives the bow a so called ‘X-Bow’ effect, to create optimum manoeuvring stability at various speeds and weather/sea conditions.
The hull, console and spray hood are made of seawater resistant aluminium grade 5083 H11 (AIMg 4.5) in various thicknesses between 5mm and 20 mm to give the boat maximum strength, combined with a lightweight design. The FRSQ 700 Hybrid is equipped with a state of the art aluminium self righting frame, which provides the crew an even better grip and all round view during operations at sea.
The foam fender is made of high standard polyethylene material and is covered by a heavy duty hypalon cover. Fenders will get damaged through the years due to heavy impacts, so a low maintenance fender has been engineered which is made of five separate blocks that can easily be removed by one man, even when in use offshore.
