Remote vessel surveillance and monitoring system
Vasari Technology Ltd of Somerset UK has launched a complete remote vessel surveillance and monitoring system
It will provide instant notification of illegal entry to an operator’s vessel, view activity on board with live video feed, monitor the vessel’s position, and provide live monitoring of all shipboard data, all from a smartphone, office desktop or tablet.
With the i-Sea system it does not matter if the operator is hundreds of miles away, cameras monitor all activity in key areas, access points can be monitored for unauthorized entry, and all of the vessel’s data can be read by the i-Sea server via NMEA0183 or NMEA2000 and interrogated. Thus, fuel tank levels can be monitored and, when the level falls below a preset point, a text message can be sent alerting the operator. GPS position can also be monitored for vessel movement, etc.
In the event of abnormal activity, the i-Sea system is programmed to send a SMS message or email to an address set by the user. This can be the owner of the vessel, the skipper, the agents or anyone spedified. On receipt of an alarm message, designated personnel can log into the i-Sea server, from their desktop, i-Pad or even their smart phone. Live camera feeds can be monitored, the vessels position can be checked, and action can be taken.
All this information is relayed via 3G/4G (dependant on local coverage) straight to a phone or desktop by SMS message or email. The recipient can then remotely log into the system to access real time video and data from wherever he may be. All the time this information is recorded to provide any evidence that may be required.
The core of the i-Sea system is the unique i-Sea server. This is a complete stand alone unit, small and discrete, consuming ultra low-power. Built into this unit is a digital video server, data logger and 3G/4G router. Unlike Wi-Fi based systems, the i-Sea system is not reliant on being in range of a Wi-Fi hotspot. Also, the i-Sea system contains its own unique internet address, so there is no need to set up routing with the Wi-Fi provider. Change location and the unique access address stays with the vessel.
