A new foundry and hydrodynamic anodes

The UK’s first dedicated corrosion control company, established in the early 1950’s, now spans all aspects of the marine sector from the leisure boat market to commercial deep sea shipping, as well as civil engineering projects on coastal and shoreline structures. The company, still in family ownership, embarked on an inward investment programme during 2008, commencing with the acquisition of specialist coatings company Zinga UK, then a capital project for the foundry operation.

Maintaining MGDuff’s ISO 9001 accreditation, the foundry boasts energy efficient electric furnaces, a computer linked spectrometer for batch testing, presses, lathes and other bespoke machinery for producing ancillary products. The ability to have total quality control from design, manufacture and distribution all from one location, offers potential savings through efficient use of resources, greater stock control and an enhanced service for customers.

To celebrate this new enterprise, and with a departure from traditional shapes, MGDuff has re-modelled the most popular of their small craft anodes to more stylised and hydrodynamic forms. Whilst retaining the same weights, fixing sizes and material content, the sleek new anodes present better flow characteristics and maintain optimum performance.
