Electrical repair work to ferry fleets
Marine electrical engineering firm SeaKing Electrical has recently completed two commercial ferry projects.
One recent project saw SeaKing partnering with Liet Corp Ocean LED on a programme of marine electrical engineering works to DFDS Seaways ferries in dry docks in Dunkirk, France.
Work involved the installation of LED lighting in the restaurant, passenger and accommodation areas. Key benefits of the LED fittings include long life expectancy rates and high efficiency, bringing energy savings of up to 90%.
Another recent project saw the firm working on the Caledonian MacBrayne car and passenger ferry MV Hebrides in a dry docking project at Cammell Laird Shipyard in Birkenhead UK.
Working as subcontractors to Cammell Laird, SeaKing upgraded the ship’s fire detection by installing new control panels. All field devices were also upgraded and additional loop cabling was installed. The system was then commissioned by SeaKing.
