PowerShark eats marine fouling at METS
The PowerShark WB3000 made its first ever showing in continental Europe at the recent METS exhibition in Amsterdam.
The rechargeable, submersible power tool, which removes barnacles and other unwanted growth in seconds, was hosted by Italia Marine, Italy’s distributor for PowerShark’s UK manufacturer, Waveblade Ltd.
ThePowerShark tool uses patented resonant wave technology. Oscillating at a 3,000 rpm frequency, the tool’s cleaning head actually breaks the chemical bond between materials. In the process, even the most stubborn fouling falls away, leaving work surfaces undamaged. PowerShark is suitable for commercial vessels, fishing boats and underwater structures which need to be kept free of biofouling.
PowerShark is a development of Waveblade’s original Waveblade tool, a version of the blade which is sold worldwide for smaller vessels. The first PowerSharkorders were shipped in October to fulfill international orders, and with stock now available, Italia Marine took orders at METS.
Effective on more than just marine growth, PowerSharkremoves flaking rust, slag or foam rubber matting. It safely cleans numerous surfaces, including metals, rubber,
PVC, conduit, wood, concrete and fibreglass gel coat. The completely waterproof tool operates both on land and underwater, with a 6m depth rating.
A 12.8V lithium iron phosphate rechargeable battery pack with a 6Ahr rating provides a continuous running time of up to 90 minutes, and comes equipped with its own custom charger. A handy holster provides unlimited user mobility.
Readily interchangeable stainless steel blades make the PowerShark useful for a variety of applications. The kit comes equipped with a flat chisel blade as well as standard 3″ and 4.5″ wide blades. Thoughtful design features add to the tool’s ease of use, such as a new quick-release chuck for efficient blade changes, an ergonomic shape, and sensitive touch switch operation. An aluminum knuckle guard protects hands from sharp fouling or rough surfaces. Constructed of highly durable materials, the PowerShark requires minimal maintenance, needing only a fresh water rinse following use.
The PowerShark WB3000 tool measures 16.5″ long while tool, blade and battery together weigh 2.7kg.
