Thirty years history and props at Inverlane

The main priority for the client was delivery time as the purifier was required to meet a sailing deadline. The purifier had suffered a bearing failure on the vertical spindle resulting in major damage to the purifier bowl.

Once it had arrived in Inverlane’s Lloyds approved workshop it was stripped down to ascertain the extent of the damage. The original bowl was beyond repair so a reconditioned bowl was sourced from the company’s extensive 200,000 sq/ft stock warehouse and was fitted to the purifier after rebuild. The purifier was then tested in the workshop with a Lloyds surveyor in attendance and was despatched to meet the ship within ten days of having arrived in the workshop at Inverlane. The client was delighted with the level of personal service and attention to detail within a very tight timespan.

Inverlane was set up in late 1978 by the former owner Bert Sheils, who ran the business until his retirement in 2003, when it was sold to the current owner and managing director Stephen Shanks. Rennie Oliver, who began working at Inverlane as an apprentice in 1974, is director in charge of technical operations. His knowledge and expertise is a key asset to the business and he is widely known for his innovative solutions to engineering problems.
