Acta Marine takes delivery of ‘methanol-ready’ CSOV

The vessel is the third in a series of four newbuilds ordered by the company to support offshore wind construction and operations and maintenance (O&M) activities.

Acta Gemini has methanol dual-fuel main engines and is described by the company as ‘methanol ready’, reflecting wider efforts within the offshore support vessel sector to try out different fuels as regulatory requirements evolve.

Following mobilisation, Acta Gemini will begin a long-term charter supporting the Sofia Offshore Wind Farm at Dogger Bank in the UK. Operating from Grimsby, the vessel will provide offshore accommodation and walk-to-work services for personnel involved in operations and maintenance activities at the wind farm under contract to RWE.

According to Acta Marine, the charter forms part of the company’s continuing activity in the offshore wind support market, where demand for dedicated service operation vessels has increased alongside the expansion of large-scale offshore wind projects.

“The delivery of Acta Gemini, combined with a long-term charter commitment from RWE, underlines both the strength of our fleet and the confidence of our clients in our organisation and services,” said Rob Boer, chief executive officer of Acta Marine.

“With this vessel, we continue to build on the foundation laid with Acta Pegasus and Hercules and further strengthen our position in the offshore wind market.”

The vessel can accommodate up to 88 personnel and is equipped with an offshore access system for technician transfers to offshore installations. It also includes a helideck and daughter craft to support offshore logistics and personnel movement.

Acta Gemini follows the delivery of sister vessels Acta Pegasus and Acta Hercules, while a fourth vessel, Acta Aquarius, is scheduled for delivery later in 2026.

Together, the four-vessel programme is a strong sign of fleet renewal and expansion by Acta Marine as offshore wind operators continue to increase demand for specialist support tonnage.
