Deme orders another offshore installation vessel

Based on the Norwegian Salt 310 design, the 123m OCV will be carry out trench burial and cable laying to complement its existing vessels Living Stone and Viking Neptun.

“From the vessel, an ROV trencher can be launched to execute these operations, working in synergy with Deme’s cable installation fleet,” said managing director, Offshore Energy, Hugo Bouvy. ”Representing a sizeable investment, the OCV will be constructed by PaxOcean at the Zhoushan shipyard in China and is scheduled for delivery in 2028.

“With more than 5,000 km of subsea cables installed across wind farms in Europe and the United States, Deme continues to support clients in delivering offshore projects efficiently and reliably. Building on this track record, the new OCV further enhances Deme’s cable installation capabilities and expands its versatile fleet of vessels and solutions.”

The order is the latest in a growing line of vessels expanding Deme’s fleet, including Norse Energi, which is currently under build at the CIMC Raffles Shipyard in China (see video from July).

This mammoth can install wind turbines with rotor diameters of more than 300 metres, monopiles of up to 3,000 tons – even in water depths of 70 metres, Deme says.

Delivery is expected before the end of this year.
