Protector expands superyacht customisation

The New Zealand-built RIB specialist, owned by Rayglass Boats and represented in Europe by PB Europe, part of the Ancasta Group, is re-engineering commercial vessel build approaches to support modern superyacht operations.

“Superyacht tenders are no longer off-the-shelf solutions, owners and captains are asking for craft that mirror the ambitions of the main yacht,” said Andy Andrews, European sales manager for Protector Boats.

“The strength of Protector lies in its DNA. That commercial grade build quality allows us to push the boundaries of what a luxury tender or chase boat can do, without compromising reliability or safety.”

Bespoke customisation

As superyachts extend their range and rely more heavily on chase boats, Protector is delivering deep, model-level customisation.

Hulls, superstructures and onboard systems are being redesigned to produce mission-specific tenders capable of extended range, enhanced autonomy, crew comfort and refined aesthetics, supporting both leisure boating and expedition-led itineraries.

Protector currently has multiple superyacht vessels in build, all scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2026.

These include the newly developed Targa 410 Expedition, created in collaboration with experienced captains to meet real-world operational demands.

This model features twin inboard Volvo diesel engines, a redesigned cabin with improved visibility, solar power, shock-mitigation seating, expanded storage and upgraded onboard systems.

Further projects include a highly customised Targa 310 for operation from a Damen support vessel, configured as a compact cabin tender and watersports platform with overnight accommodation and onboard amenities.

Core construction is being completed at the Rayglass facilities in New Zealand, but finishing is often completed in the UK at at Ancasta’s yacht servicing and commissioning facility in Hamble, Southampton.

Leveraging its commercial expertise, the company is positioning its leisure boating portfolio at the forefront of superyacht vessel build innovation going forward.
