WMD secures Middle East deal

The Zenith 54 Pilot Boat will support pilot transfer operations throughout the region and is based on WMD’s established wave-piercing hull form, designed to enhance seakeeping, stability and crew comfort in challenging maritime conditions. The design also aims to improve performance at speed while reducing vertical accelerations, a key consideration for pilotage operations.

The vessel will be powered by twin Volvo D13 marine engines and is expected to achieve a maximum speed of 30 knots, providing rapid response capability and reliable transit times for port operations.

“This vessel brings together our latest hull technology with Grandweld’s strong track record in high-quality shipbuilding. It’s a partnership that will deliver a highly capable pilot boat tailored for the operational demands of Middle Eastern ports.”

The contract strengthens WMD’s position in the international workboat market and reflects growing uptake of the company’s wave-piercing hull designs across commercial fleets worldwide.

Production of the vessel is scheduled to begin this summer, with delivery expected in 2027.

WMD will showcase its portfolio of workboat and high-performance vessel designs at Seawork 2026, taking place in Southampton from 9–11 June, where the company is at stand G19.
