OCS Goes Boom
Oil Control Systems of the Netherlands has received an order from SMIT Salvage for the delivery of 400m of Ro-Boom 1100 Oilboom . The order contains four hydraulic operated reels, each including a 100m oilboom, fitted in special fabricated galvanised frames which can be stowed in planes and/or on deck. Each reel is also equipped with a 5.2kW diesel powered powerpack which incorporates a high capacity blower and a possibility for skimmer operation.
Vagverket Farjerederiet has recently put its most modern car ferry into service. The Venus is 86.2m LOA, displaces 840 tonnes and has a total load capacity of 340 tonnes. Built in Finland by Uudenkaupungin Tyovene OY, it will operate between Ljustero and Ostana in Stockholm. ‘We want to be leaders in the environmental field, said the ferry company’s technical director Mikael von Zweigbergk.
