Post-Explosion Refit for Seamec II
Following the dramatic explosion of the supply vessel Seamec II last year at the Curacao Dry Dock Company (CDM), Alewijnse Marine Systems has signed a contract to refit the multipurpose vessel.
The explosion destroyed the bow thruster room, four accommodation decks and related technical areas.Originally built as an OSV,
Seamec II
was also equipped for dive support and fire fighting, with an effective water spray heli-deck, all requiring sophisticated onboard systems.
Alewijnse will supply the engineering, supervision, and commissioning of the electrical systems for all the damaged areas, including galley cabinet and starter panels. The comprehensive specification of the contract covers the fire detection system, power distribution, thrusters’ control system, cable trays and general alarm installation.
Work started in February, and is expected to conclude within four months.
