(UK) Solar Solve Ltd managing director Julie Lightfoot received her MBE from HM The Queen in a ceremony at London’s Buckingham Place late last month. The award recognises her hard work and commitment to growing the business and increasing overseas trade during the last 20 years.
Over the last three years Solar solve has increased its sales by 50% and exports are currently 90% of total turnover. The privately owned company, based at the Port of Tyne, manufactures the SolaSolv brand of anti-glare roller screens for navigation bridge windows. The business was founded in 1975 by Julie Lightfoot’s parents and began exporting in 1988. Her father, company chairman John Lightfoot, received an MBE in 2002.
