SUT Conference
The Society for Underwater Technology, which has members in over 40 countries, is to celebrate its 50th anniversary with a three-day conference at London’s ExCel Centre on The Future of Underwater Technology, from 15-17 November.
Its aim, the organisation says, is to showcase new technologies, products and best practices with particular emphasis on the next generation of subsea engineering, marine science and all aspects of underwater applications. It anticipates the flagship event, which will include an exhibition of equipment and services, will be the forerunner of similar future meetings at its other global centres around the world which include those in Australia, Brazil, China, Malaysia, Norway, Singapore and US in addition to the UK.
Hydrography will be one of the principal topics as part of an Offshore Site Investigation session covering Geology & Geophysics, Surveys, Imaging, Acoustics and Sonars. Other planned main topic sessions will cover Diving, Environmental Forces, Marine Renewables, Ocean Resources, Ocean & Marine Science, Subsea Engineering & Operations, Defence, Business Aspects of Marine & Underwater Working; a student research poster session is also planned. Proceedings are expected to comprise approximately 200 papers presented in plenary and parallel forums.
Final selected papers of between 3000 and 5000 words will be required by the organisers by 23 September with some being considered for later publication in the SUT’s journal, Underwater Technology.
