Ullman Seats launch folding variant
Swedish shock mitigation seat specialist, Ullman Dynamics, has debuted a new folding version of one of its most popular models at Seawork 2014.
Ullman said that its new Fold Up Jockey Seat has the smallest footprint on the market of all currently available shock mitigation seats and was developed in close co-operation with Finnish special forces.
Most commercial operators of high speed vessels are now committed, either by legislation or by a professional attitude towards looking after their employees, to invest in shock mitigation seating. There’s no escaping the fact though, that many shock mitigation seating solutions are a little, and sometimes a lot more bulky than fixed seating.
Johan Ullman, who set up the company over 25 years ago, following extensive academic research in the field, said: “The Fold Up Jockey Seat offers a 20cm shorter footprint than its non-folding equivalent. This is key for any vessel builders and operators who need to work around the vessel’s seating area.”
The model uses a parallel folding system that allows the lower end of the damper to slide upwards, allowing the backrest and base of the seat to tilt forward as one unit. Ullman’s seats are sold all over the world to professional seagoing organisations as diverse as The United States FBI and the Austrian Fire Brigade.
