PALFINGER MARINE and MAN Energy Solutions have both been selected to contribute equipment to the a new Offshore Support Vessel (OSV) being built for the DOF Group.

Polish shipbuilder CRIST, has ordered a comprehensive equipment package from both companies for the next-generation OSV provisionally named Sea Dragon, which when completed, will operate off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

“Engineered for harsh conditions, it will enable robust and secure operations, setting new benchmarks for the next generation of Offshore Support Vessels.”
Reliable offshore operations
The 110-metre long DP3 ice-class vessel is the next-generation OSV based on the MMC 995L SBC design from MMC Ship Design & Marine Consulting and can accommodate up to 164 people.
As part of the comprehensive equipment package, PALFINGER MARINE will supply an extensive fully electric, frequency-controlled winch system which will enable safe and efficient anchoring, mooring, deck handling, towing and ice management – even under the most extreme offshore conditions.
It will also provide the complete lifesaving appliances onboard, consisting of totally enclosed lifeboats and the corresponding hydraulic pivoting davits as well as life raft davits. Each component is designed to meet the highest industry safety standards in accordance with the latest SOLAS/LSA regulations and are certified by Transport Canada (TC).
The state-of-the-art vessel will feature two 1MWh battery packs and several generator sets for power supply, positioning and propulsion, driving two main azimuth thrusters, a retractable azimuth thruster and two tunnel thrusters. It will be capable of operating on biofuel or a biofuel blend.
CRIST has also ordered six MAN 12V175D high-speed variable speed gensets for the vessel.

Sea Dragon is scheduled for delivery by Q1 2027.
