Taiwanese subsea vessel heads for Europe
Taiwanese subsea vessel Orient Adventurer has been signed up for charter for around two years by Norwegian firm DeepOcean.
The vessel, by Dong Fang Offshore, will bring the number of vessels, including subsea support, construction and multi-purpose support vessels, being operated by DeepOcean to 16.
It also has 14 Remotely Operated Vessels (ROVs) in its portfolio.
Orient Adventurer will join DeepOcean at the beginning of 2026 and after the charter contract has an additional four-year option. Its main functions will be operations and maintenance, inspection, repair and the recycling of oil and gas infrastructure.
Formerly named Polar Onyx, the vessel has plenty of offshore wind experience, now working in southeast Asia on an offshore wind site.
She is equipped with a 250t crane and vertical lay system with 275t capacity, and DeepOcean will install two of its ROVs in hangars on the vessel.

Headquartered in Oslo, DeepOcean was founded in 1999 and has operational centres there, the UK, US and Mexico. It is now owned by Triton, a European mid-market sector-specialist investor.
