Xbloc armoured units for Sri Lankan breakwater

A license agreement has been signed by Delta Marine Consultants in The Netherlands and BAM International for the application of Xbloc armoured units on the breakwaters for the Dikkowita Fishery Harbour in Sri Lanka.

The Dikkowita Fishery Harbour is a new harbour which will be built on the west coast of Sri Lanka, 10km north of the capital Colombo. The harbour will be protected by two breakwaters. Xbloc casting has commenced. Elsewhere, contractor Odebrecht has recently completed shore protection of the Cinta Costera in Panama using Xblocs. The shore protection scheme was completed 18 months after the first Xblocs were cast. A total of 25,000 Xblocs were placed

The Cinta Costera project in Panama City included land reclamation and a new shore protection scheme to provide space for a new coastal road, a boulevard and a park. The shore protection project started in January 2008 and was completed in June 2009.
