Seaway Heavy Lifting gets a big hammer
IHC Hydrohammer, part of IHC Merwede, has been awarded a contract by Seaway Heavy Lifting to design and manufacture a S-2500 piling hammer, the largest ever built by the company.
The order also includes a 6,500mm guide sleeve and other equipment needed for offshore operations in both the offshore wind as well as oil and gas markets.
The piling equipment will primarily be used for the installation of monopiles using the hammer’s 6,500mm guide sleeve, which is the largest available in the world. The S-2500 piling hammer is suitable to reach 2,500KJ of impact energy.
The company designs, manufactures and supplies hydraulic piling hammers for both on and offshore use and is not simply confined to hammers, as the company also designs new piling techniques, foundation equipment and hammer accessories, with a view to making pile driving more efficient, easier to control, quieter and more widely usable.
