Integrated bow roller enhances TAS

Houlder and BMT Nigel Gee’s jointly developed Turbine Access System (TAS) is gaining an integrated bow roller mechanism to further enhance its capability as a safe and predictable transfer platform.

The TAS’ integral damping system reduces and controls the vessel motion

The integrated bow roller unit (which is being developed with backing from Carbon Trust funding) will enable shipbuilders to install TAS on both new build and retrofit support vessels fairly quickly.

The hydraulically damped rollers will allow the vessel to push up to the landing on the turbine foundation structure in the usual way while the TAS’ integral damping system reduces and controls the vessel motion, eliminating the sudden movements which can occur with conventional fender systems.
