Important marina development for Barcelona
The Port of Barcelona has approved the awarding of a tender to build and operate a pleasure boat marina at the North Entrance Mouth, intended to be a key element in the maritime expansion of the area.
The €30m tender has been awarded to Formentera Mar with construction expected to last 24 months. The marina area itself will cover 50,000m² with a land area of 18,000m², a drydock and associated buildings will occupy a further 32,500m². The water area will accommodate up to 134 vessels from 15 to 40m length and the drydock will cover 6,200m², able to take boats with a length up to 12m.
The investment is to be a key element in the expansion of Port Vell and the associated marine cluster promoted by the City Council and the port along with a number of companies, aimed at boosting the competitiveness and productivity of the maritime sector.
