UK pontoon design and construction company, Intermarine, has formed a new partnership with Finnish floating solution provider, Marinetek.

The two companies have agreed to join forces in Great Britain and Ireland. Under the partnership, Marinetek UK’s parent company, Marinetek Group Oy, will become a shareholder in Intermarine alongside current owners, the Mackley Group.
As part of the deal, Intermarine’s aluminium Laguna and steel Atlantic ranges will be promoted through the Marinetek global network – benefitting international customers as well as UK based clients. With this increased exposure, the companies expect to see a rise in demand for concrete, steel and aluminium pontoons, breakwaters and floating solutions for the maritime industry.
Scott Gaherty, managing director, Intermarine, told Maritime Journal: "We see sustained growth through expansion into developing markets via our existing international partners and through Marinetek’s Global network which extends into Asia. We are focusing our latest international efforts on Turkey, where economic growth is strong and a young population combined with new wealth is driving the development of new marinas. Turkey also gives good access to adjacent markets around the Black Sea, Middle East and Med."
He added: "In the UK we see stabilisation with maintenance works, in the commercial secto, development in more marginal areas, bespoke moorings and public sector. Although we have seen a significant decline in Southern Europe, Northern Europe, especially the Netherlands and Germany, has remained strong."
Intermarine and Marinetek have worked together on a number of projects including the development of the Grand Harbour Marina in Malta and the installation of breakwaters around the UK.
