Buoyant Works Unveils new version of CTV Step Extension

Introducing Slidex: A Safer, Smarter Step Extension System for CTV Operations

Buoyant Works is proud to unveil the latest evolution in crew transfer vessel (CTV) safety and functionality: Slidex, the new adjustable bow fender step extension system designed to enhance operational efficiency and reduce risk during offshore wind turbine access.

First showcased at Seawork and Global Offshore Wind earlier this month, Slidex has already generated strong industry interest for its innovative design and practical, user-centric features.

Slidex enables safe, on-the-fly step length adjustment while at sea, accommodating varying boat-to-ladder distances across different wind farms. From a neutral starting position of -50mm, a single crew member can quickly and securely extend the unit to 50mm, 150mm, or 250mm. This adaptability ensures seamless transfers and minimizes downtime caused by misalignment between vessel and ladder.

Designed with crew safety as a top priority, Slidex employs a robust locking mechanism and integrated sliding rails. This allows adjustments to be made directly from the vessel deck, eliminating the need for personnel to operate at the bow’s leading edge—significantly reducing exposure to potential hazards. When not in use, Slidex retracts to its neutral position, minimizing the risk of collision damage during transit.
