Nautronix positioning for Subsea 7
Nautronix in Aberdeen, UK which specialises in through-water communication and positioning technology for offshore applications, is to supply locally-based Subsea 7 with its latest NASNet underwater positioning system for use on the Aasta Hansteen gas field in the northern sector of the Norwegian Sea.
The system comprises 16 large stations and four complete vessel units and is due to begin service for approximately 200 days beginning next March in reported depths of 1,300m. According to Nautronix CEO Mark Patterson, it combines long baseline (LBL) and GPS concepts with latest-generation signalling technology while employing a broadcasting technique to provide true multi-user, accurate and reliable results in all water depths with no acoustic interference. Meanwhile, the company’s survey division is currently providing Ceona’s subsea construction vessel, Polar Onyx, with hydrographic support under a five-year frame agreement.
