A double dose of dredging in Abu Dhabi
Anyone planning to attend the CEDA Dredging Days in Abu Dhabi on 12 and 13 December has an opportunity to double up and also participate in the latest Environmental Aspects of Dredging course.
Last December’s Environmental Aspects coursewas so successful that the organisers had to turn people away. To meet this demand, IADC and CEDA decided to present this environmental course again in Abu Dhabi on 10 and 11 December, just prior to CEDA Dredging Days. He scheduling gives added value to both events and allows participants to maximise the benefits of travelling only once to the region for two beneficial reasons.
The Environmental Aspects of Dredgingcourse will again be organised under the sponsorship of the National Marine Dredging Company (NMDC), in cooperation with the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) Abu Dhabi at their high-tech premises.
Those pondering the benefits of studying dredging and the environment in tandem should take heed of course leader Gerard van Raalte of Royal Boskalis Westminster, who said, “Understanding the ecosystem is essential. It not only helps mitigate potential negative impacts, but also improves and enhances the wider project environment, something that each dredging project should seek to achieve”.
The Training Course is based on the book ‘Environmental Aspects of Dredging’, edited by Nick Bray and produced and published as a joint effort by the Central Dredging Association (CEDA) and the International Association of Dredging Companies (IADC) and Taylor & Francis in 2008.
The in-depth lectures and workshop sessionsare enhanced by the up to date knowledge and vast experience of the course leaders, who are well known professionals in the dredging industry. The workshops are conducted in small groups, where participants are confronted with dredging projects closely resembling real-life dredging situations. These hands-on sessions are always one of the most popular features according to attendees.
The registration fee is € 995 (excl. VAT) and includes the 386 page hardcover book ‘Environmental Aspects of Dredging’ as well as lecture notes, coffee, tea and lunches. Participants attending all sessions will receive a certificate of course completion. Participants in both events (Course and CEDA Dredging Days) will receive a 10% discount on both registration fees.
