IADC courses
The next IADC (International Association of Dredging Companies) Seminar on Dredging and Land Reclamation takes place from 23 to 27 June at UNESCO-IHE, at Delft in the Netherlands. According to Netherlands based IADC, the seminar is a unique chance to receive invaluable hands-on experience, as it includes a visit to Van Oords yard in Moerdijk.
As an added attraction, delegates will visit the Pettemer sea defence project, where dredging contractors Boskalis and Van Oord are reinforcing the weak northern stretch of the Dutch coastline, from Petten to Camperduin.
Highlights of the programme are:
- Day 1: Why Dredging? The Need for Dredging/Project Phasing.
- Day 2: What is Dredging? Dredging Equipment (includes a site visit).
- Day 3: Production of various types of dredgers (includes a site visit).
- Day 4: Preparation of a Dredging Contract, Reclamation, Tender, Cost Pricing.
- Day 5: Contracts.
IADC are also offering a 2 day training course on the Environmental Aspects of Dredging, from 18 to 19 June, at Wallingford in the UK. This training course provides an overview of the environmental aspects of dredging, the latest technology and equipment that apply to dredging and the management of dredged material. In addition to presentations of the subjects, participants will be challenged in case studies to apply the principals discussed.
