Rapid Damen delivery suits Heuvelman Ibis

The Damen Shipyards Group has signed a contract with fellow Netherlands based company Heuvelman Ibis to deliver a cutter suction dredger CSD 350 and two BS 350 booster stations.

Following handover in the second quarter of this year, Heuvelman Ibis will initially deploy the vessel on a dredging project at Groningen, in the north of the country. The client selected a CSD 350 for the project, which involves removing some 220,000m3 of sediment from the Winschoterdiep canal.

The heavy duty dredger is a standardised vessel which Damen builds in series and keeps in stock to ensure rapid delivery. Although series built, the CSD 350 offers a number of options to suit individual client requirements such as the inclusion of a spud carriage and anchor booms.

Heuvelman Ibis managing director Erik Stuut said, “Having worked with Damen on several occasions in the past we have every confidence in their capabilities, not only to deliver us a reliable vessel but also to deliver ongoing service and assistance.”
