Royal IHC delivers 2000th dredge pump
Royal IHC of the Netherlands has celebrated the delivery of its 2000th dredge pump with a Royal IHC Pump Experience for customers and partners at its Kinderdijk headquarters.
A number of interactive experiences and demonstrations enabled guests to experience the development and production process for state of the art dredge pumps. Following the experience, the 2000th dredge pump built by IHC was symbolically handed over to its new owner, Belgium’s Jan De Nul Group.
“Reaching this impressive number is trhe result of continuous development from research, learning, acquiring feedback and applying this knowledge to new pump designs, said Royal IHC CEO Dave Vander Heyde. “IHC has maintained this approach over several decades.”
The 2,000th pump is one of two double-walled dredge pumps for the Jan De Nul Group’s new self-designed 18,000 m3 capacity trailing suction hopper dredger currently under build. These pumps have been designed to deliver a total installed power of 7,000kW each, enabling them to discharge 33 bars of pressure when operated concurrently.
The pumps are equipped with IHC’s latest Curve technology. The Curve impeller, with its innovative shape and blade curvature, ensures that the pumps perform with excellent suction properties over their lifetimes.
“We are pleased that this pump will be installed in one of our new vessels, said Robby de Backer, director of Jan De Nul’s Newbuilding Department. “This impressive number is proof of the outstanding quality of these dredge pumps. It is also a witness to the long lasting collaboration between Royal IHC and the Jan De Nul Group. This pump will be the heart of our new 18,000 m3 tshd, as it is of many dredgers over the world.”
