€3.1m Nordic survey contract for Fugro
Dutch survey organisation Fugro has been awarded a €3.1m contract by the Finnish and Swedish Hydrographic Offices for studies of a 13,000 sq/km area covering shipping routes between Finland and Sweden, in the Gulf Bothnia, Baltic Sea.
Areas to be surveyed this summer in water depths between less than 10m and up to 130m are within Finnish and Swedish EEZs (Exclusive Economic Zones) but beyond each country’s territorial waters. Results will be used to update charts and associated navigational information.
Fugro plans to use two of its survey vessels, both fitted with high resolution multibeam sounders. Operations are expected to be completed in October. The project consists of separate contracts with both the Finnish Transport Agency (FTA) and the Swedish Maritime Administration (SMA) organisations.
