$50m Brazilian contract for Subsea 7 division
Subsea 7’s Aberdeen based i-Tech division has been awarded a contract worth around $50m by Petrobras, the Brazilian state energy concern, for provision of ROV support and underwater positioning survey services in domestic offshore waters. The five year agreement includes an option to extend for a similar period.
The award will see i-Tech providing two of its Centurion QX work class ROVs and associated services aboard an ROV support vessel, with mobilisation of equipment and personnel expected to begin shortly. Bruce Masson, the division’s managing director, says the venture will enable it to deploy a number of additional services involving high precision ROV mounted sensors, including inertial navigation and sound velocity equipment. All will be linked to a purpose designed navigation software program allowing integration of positioning sensors.
Featuring the latest propulsion and system handling technology, the Centurion QX is i-Tech’s flagship work class system and forms part of a fleet of 80 ROVs operating globally via regional centres for Europe and Africa, Brazil, Asia-Pacific and North America.
