Anglo-Swedish alliance
Marin Mätteknik AB (MMT) of Gothenburg, Sweden and NetSurvey of Banbury in the UK have merged their operations, having closely collaborated on various hydrographic survey assignments during the last six years.
Ola Oskarsson, managing director of MMT, which has acquired all NetSurvey’s shares, says the UK company’s unique concept for processing of depth data and 3D modelling provides an ideal complement for his company’s own expertise and will enable both to further expand their respective activities on behalf of world energy organisations. The merger will also place NetSurvey as one of the UK’s leading survey companies, according to its own managing director, Duncan Mallace. It presently operates in 80 countries.
As a result of the alliance, MMT now employs over 250 marine survey specialists with NetSurvey’s Banbury office acting as headquarters for its UK operations, which include contract work for the Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA). Among other current assignments, the Group is carrying out major bathymetric data acquisition and processing activities in the Norwegian Sea for the Norwegian Hydrographic Service aboard its survey vessel, Franklin.
