Belgian contract for TerraStar
DEME, the Belgian dredging and hydraulic engineering group, is to use Aberdeen based TerraStar GNSS’s TerraStar-D precise point positioning service (PPP) in support of worldwide nearshore operations of its multi-functional fleet of dredgers and auxiliary vessels.
Operating in conjuction with Septentrio positioning and AsteRx2eH heading receivers, the service will provide the fleet with seamless high precision decimetre-level accuracies using a combination of GPS and Glonass satellites for faster levels of convergence and high update rates. Selection of the service follows extensive trials with Lorentz Lievens, head of DEME’s Survey Department, saying it is able to provide required accuracies without the need for reference stations when operating in remote locations or when reduced set-up time is critical.
A new development by TerraStar GNSS, the PPP high precision service is supported by a proprietary global network of over 80 GNSS reference stations together with two independent, fully redundant network control centres in Aberdeen and Singapore to ensure year round 24 hour reliable coverage. The company also provides a comparable metre level terrestrial service using enabled Septentrio and Altus Positioning receivers.
