CARIS Bathymetric Software for Panama Canal
The Panama Canal Authority is to adopt CARIS’s BathyDatabase software for storage and management of its bathymetric information in support of the waterway’s heavy traffic and current expansion operations.
Implementation, it said, will also contribute to continuous monitoring of navigation channel conditions as well as ongoing dredging operations.
The Authority has hitherto been using a seamless CARIS Hydrographic Production Database (HPD) since 2012 for chart production as part of present expansion activities. It expects to make full use of the new software facilities by the end of this year.
