Caris database for Swedish Hydrographic Office
The Swedish Hydrographic Office, part of the governmental Swedish Maritime Administration (SMA) in Norrköping, has commissioned a Caris Hydrographic Production Database (HPD) as its basic system for current and future management of spatial data as well as efficient production of paper and electronic charts.
Delivery of the HPD also involves provision of a comprehensive training program by Canadian-based Caris under which 20 Hydrographic Office operators will obtain a full understanding of data management necessary for continued production and maintenance of more than 100 paper charts and 600 electronic nautical charts (ENCs).
HPD comprises an integrated suite of products for managing data in a seamless database. End products, including nautical publications, can all be created with the system as well as GIS exports for further data analysis, distribution and discovery.
