Scottish hydrographic company Clydeside Surveys of Kilmacolm in Renfrewshire, whose recent domestic exploits have included work at the ports of Belfast and Glasgow and on the River Dart in Devon, says the craft is extremely robust and easily road transportable over considerable distances.

Cheetah claims that the launch and its survey style wheelhouse is one of the most versatile boats of its type available, capable of accurately completing transit lines at speeds of between 3 and 15 knots. Moreover, by minimising transit intervals between sites, hydrographers are able to devote more time acquiring larger volumes of data at specific locations, an essential requirement when surveying busy ports or tidally constrained waters. A draught of only 30cm also enables shallow water and drying banks to be accessed while the vessel conforms to MCA requirements for ranges of up to 20 miles from a safe haven.
