Combined bathymetry and sidescan system
The EdgeTech 4600 Combined Bathymetry & Side Scan Sonar System was met with enthusiastic reviews at a recent underwater technology demonstration and training event hosted by Seatronics in Abu Dhabi.
Over 70 attendees of Seatronics Tech Day came aboard to witness the EdgeTech 4600 perform shallow water survey operations in Khor Al-Raha Harbor. With depths as shallow as 1m, the EdgeTech 4600’s 200° swath coverage was able to capture high resolution swath bathymetry and side scan imagery which revealed heavy dredge scarring along the channel bottom.
The simultaneous acquisition of side scan imagery and bathymetric point data reduces acquisition time. In addition, the co-registered bathymetry and side scan data can be geo-referenced with much higher precision and without the processing burden associated with combining the data sets when acquired independently.
