French Navy orders Valeport systems

SHOM, the French Navy’ s Hydrographic & Oceanographic Service in Brest, has commissioned 14 miniSVS sound velocity sensors and five miniSVT sound velocity with temperature sensors from Totnes UK based Valeport, which has been a preferred supplier of this type of instrumentation to the organisation for a number of years.

Featuring integral digital time of flight sound speed sensors with an accuracy of ±0.020m/s, the systems will be used to support multibeam survey operations carried out by SHOM’s fleet of vessels comprising five 60m hydrographic ships and eight 9m launches.

Orders for the systems, which are designed for operation from any type of vessel, were processed by EurOceanique, a subsidiary of Denmark’s MacArtney Group.
