Fugro upgrades survey vessel
Fugro Survey, which has bases in Aberdeen and Great Yarmouth UK, has completed a further upgrade of its 70m all purpose seabed survey vessel, Fugro Discovery.
A former Norwegian Coastguard vessel acquired two years ago and converted for geophysical survey operations, it has since completed inspection of 15,000km of subsea pipelines and is expected to cover a further 4,000km during the remainder of this year.
In addition to acoustic and visual inspection tasks, it is now capable of undertaking a much wider range of tasks including full site as well as route and field development surveys in addition to environmental sampling together with box coring and video imaging. Other refinements include a dedicated launch and recovery system for ROV operations and improved accommodation for 36 personnel.
Fugro Discovery is one of five vessels operated by Fugro Survey, whose operations are conducted primarily on the North West European Continental Shelf as well as Mediterranean and West Africa regions.
