Further Sonardyne positioning orders
Sonardyne International of Yateley, Hampshire UK has received a major order worth £1m for its latest 6G acoustic positioning equipment from Aberdeen based DPS Offshore, the rental business subsidiary of Forum Energy Technologies Inc.
It is the second order to have been placed by DPS Offshore in as many months for Sonardyne’s sixth generation hardware platform which includes Compatt 6 transponders, RovNav 6 LBL transceivers and Lodestar GyroCompatt 6s for rapid update rate wireless attitude and acoustic positioning of subsea objects. All the equipment will be assigned to support a wide range of subsea positioning tasks, including structure placement and spoolpiece metrology.
Sonardyne reports that similar equipment has recently been supplied to Sonar Equipment Services of Great Yarmouth, which also specialises in renting out high grade geophysical, oceanographic, ROV and marine survey hardware to offshore users.
