IHO conference

The 82-member inter-governmental International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) in Monaco is to host a 5th Extraordinary International Conference from 6-10 October which will formally open with an address by Prince Albert II.

Apart from considering various work programme reports and proposals, main topics are The Place of Hydrographic Data in a Geospatial World, The Impact of E-navigation on the IHO and Member States (shortly to include Cameroon and Montenegro), New and Emerging Technologies, and Capacity Building. Proceedings are also being supported by an exhibition of equipment and services.

The IHO, which holds UN observer status for all matters hydrographic, is headed by UK-born Robert Ward, former Deputy Hydrographer of Australia.
