IHO XVIIIth Conference
The inter-governmental International Hydrographic Organization in Monaco, representing 80 member countries, is to hold its five yearly conference from 23 to 27 April.
The Principality’s crown head Prince Albert II will be among those addressing delegates at the opening ceremony.
In addition to a formal signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the IHO and the International Cartographic Association (ICA), main event proceedings include work plan discussions and an exhibition of equipment and services featuring leading hydrographic companies and organisations. There will also be a series of ship visits and official receptions hosted by, among others, Turkey, the UK and the US.
A key agenda item will be the election of a Secretary-General and two directors for the next five years. Nominated candidates are from Australia, Brazil, France, India, Netherlands, South Africa, Tunisia, Turkey and the UK. The organization’s outgoing head is Vice-Admiral Alexandros Maratos of Greece.
