Kongsberg ROV Survey Package
Kongsberg Maritime in Norway has introduced a new survey package for ROVs, the EM 3002. Comprising a suite of imaging, positioning and communication hardware and software, the company says it is designed for straightforward installation and mobilisation on virtually any ROV for high resolution underwater inspection operations, detailed accurate mapping and acoustic imaging of seabeds.
Aquatech’s founder, Duncan Milne, spent over six years designing and building Aquadynamic to be the largest vessel that could be towed on the road without being classed as an abnormal load. The 4.5 ton, 12m launch arrives on site almost ready to work. Once off the public road the craft is made ready for sea in about 30 minutes by inflating the ‘D’ section collar and raising the specialised radar/signal mast. Launching can be by travel lift, mobile crane or direct from the trailer on a large slipway.
The package includes a single or dual-head multibeam echosounder, a HiPap 500 or 350P SSBL acoustic positioning system and a Hain inertial navigation and motion sensing unit together with a bathymetric sensor and doppler log. A complete system can be fitted with either one or two sonar heads, each covering a sector of 1300. Connection to surface mother ships equipped with three integrated computers is via a fibre optic telemetry link.
