MMT completes German cable route survey
Gothenburg based MMT reports successful completion of a major geophysical cable route survey for the Amrumbank West offshore wind farm project in the German Bight sector of the North Sea.
Carried out by the Swedish company on behalf of Siem Offshore Contractors GmbH, it included bathymetric and sidescan sonar studies as well as sub-bottom profiling.
Survey operations for the entire inner array grid cable route additionally covered detection of unexploded ordnance followed by ROV target inspections. Overall length of the survey was 550 km within a main operating area of 36 sq/km.
IceBeam, MMT’s 40m survey and ROV vessel equipped with Kongsberg multibeam sounders and Edgetech sidescan sonar and sub-bottom profiler facilities, was used for the wind farm project north of the island of Helgoland. The utility will eventually consist of 80 wind turbine generators interconnected by an inner array of medium voltage cables with a total length of 86km.
